TeamViewer is a desktop sharing application that allows easy remote business collaboration over the network. Users can take control of the remote computer, share their screen, and send files or restrict the accessibility to it.

The program offers several useful options such as: maximize, disconnect or pause the sharing pane, remote control, and other great options available from the toolbar in the center of the window.

With TeamViewer the remote control of a computer is possible even if a firewall is present; all that is required is running a small application on the remote computer that does not require installation.
TeamViewer uses an additional server component to remember which computers have been connected, to reconnect faster. TeamViewer also has a Web-based version, for remote connecting to home from public computer.

This application is free but the complete business version is licensed and starts at $749 dollars. Nevertheless the free version is sufficient for all users. It's multi-platform, available for Mac, Linux and iPhone. The complete version allows installation on server operating systems, commercial use, customer module does not require installation and can be customized with corporate logo, and other options.

  • Remote connection.
  • Desktop and file sharing.
  • VoIP.
  • Security encryption.
  • Portable.

  • Web access to remote Windows PC requires an account with TeamViewer.

Pros: TeamViewer works across platforms and mobile devices.
Cons: Instructions should be read exactly. Can get confusing.

I used TeamViewer to test in a classroom setting in order for teachers to collaborate without leaving their rooms. We did a beta test which included 2 different site locations, 6 teachers, 2 parents, 1 desktop running WIN OS, 1 desktop running MAC OS, 1 iPhone, and 1 iPad. Everyone was able to participate in the "meeting". There is even an option to just call in, i.e. only use the audio module to join. In addition, we tested TeamViewer as a remote assistance software. READ INSTRUCTIONS! This was the part you really have to know what you are doing.

Pros: TeamViewer allows users to connect to remote computers even when there is a firewall in place. Furthermore, it comes with an excellent set of features which take it beyond just remote access.
Cons: Doesn’t have the easy drag-and-drop file transfer of other remote access tools, such as GoToMyPC. But I found this to be only a minor inconvenience, as file transferring is still easy.

TeamViewer is one of the best remote access tools on the market. It’s easy-to-use, fast, reliable and secure.

Well, TV is OK unless you try to use it for commercial goals. Their business model will kill you with their every 9 month updates. A real money waster!
If you're looking for a free home and business remote desktop program, you may like free AeroAdmin. TV is its simplified clone. No installation. no configuration, no registration. Hope it helps.

Another very fast remote desktop tool ist AnyDesk. I used TeamViewer for many years, and I have been very happy with it. But for business, it's too expensive.

Pros: Easy to use. Reliable. Free for personal use
Cons: Pro version is expensive. Can't drag files from the client window

Teamviewer is great but unfortunately if you connect to more than 5-7 different IDs, it may detect it as commercial use and interrupt the session.
If you're facing that problem you may also try Aeroadmin - a free alternative which is good for both home and business use.
